Like A Rose
Deep in a valley,
A single rose sheds a drop of dew,
Along its delicate petals it travels,
To drop to the floor of a valley,
In western mountains way afar.
Like that rose,
I watched a single tear,
Slowly run down a lovely cheek,
To drop to the dry and dusty floor,
Of a heartbroken past.
At the sight of that tear,
My heart went out to you,
And like that rose,
You had your petals closed,
To attempt protection from dew drops and tears.
Like a rose,
When offered a little kindness,
Your petals opened briefly,
Letting me see momentarily,
A beauty within that could only hint,
At just how lovely this rose would be,
If it would only bloom,
Like a rose.
