Soul Mates
Rime Coue

Their love was pure as virgin snow,
And with each day could only grow,
Yet something they did miss;
For in their lives they'd never met
And, consequently, they had yet
To taste that first sweet kiss.
They both had met in cyberspace,
Neither had seen the other's face,
Yet they shared the same heart;
Their love connected mind and soul
And each one made the other whole,
Though they remained apart.
Oh how they longed to meet someday,
But fate was standing in the way,
And he could not break free;
And though they longed to consummate
Their love, they knew they'd have to wait
To claim their destiny.
And so they loved through space and time,
Through heartfelt words arranged in rhyme
Upon a cold flat screen;
Longing to hold each other tight,
To share their love by day and night,
Alas, they could but dream.
They gaze at the same moon above,
Ever connected, for their love
Transcends this earthly plane;
Two soul mates who'll ne'er have the chance
To feel the joy of love's first dance,
Or sing love's sweet refrain.
But love that grows deep in the heart,
Although the miles be far apart,
Cannot be stilled by death;
They know that someday they will meet,
When both their hearts have ceased to beat,
And they've breathed their last breath.
Then time and space will disappear,
He'll whisper softly in her ear,
'Sweet Love, oh come to me';
All of their waiting will be done,
She'll take his hand, they'll walk as one
Into eternity.
