To Lie With Dogs

take one and another, deep breath,
this is all we have now to share,
and it's a miracle we don't have to pay for air!

we're counting down and counting from,
another four hundred and some sunsets to,
take us away from a liar and a rat,
who pretends to be an image of holy and health,
when in actuality she's nothing close,
no closer than buddha to the Savior.

for now, we're bound to feel,
like she doesn't like you and i,
and all that's left to do is breathe,
take it all in and sit in shadows,

hoping for a chance to pull away from the tow,
that pleads and begs for her own 'you and i',
so we're not so Christian and not so full of light,
not so full of heart and not so full of wealth.

'a more convenient day' was all i heard,
and i accept that you may never go,
you'd much rather lie with a dog,
than have to bear a cross.
