A MOTHER'S PRAYER

A Mother's Prayer

Lord, it hurts to know this child inside
may never see the light of day;
never cry in the still of night.
You know it isn't right
for one so small
to miss so big a world!

I know you would have him be an angel
with blue eyes and golden hair.
You would place a halo 'round his head
and He would play sad songs
for folks up there.

When I die, I would wander up there
to Your Kingdom beyond the sun.
Will you say that I cannot enter?
I'll only want to see my son...

He would stand before me and I would cry
to see he's just a little boy
with blue eyes and hair of gold.
In Heaven, children never grow old.

But, Lord, I pray to You, above
to let my baby be alright.
So, he can know a father's love
and never be lost in endless night.

Amen
