We're the Children, We're the Ones

We're but children,
spinning through the
Great Spirit's sky.
We're only children,
you and I.
If one of us is wounded,
all will feel the pains.
We're the brilliance of the
rainbow, after the storm's
raging rains.
We're strong as the tides,
that rush to kiss the shore.
We're the ones who walked
the 'Trail of Tears,' the ones
who said, 'No more!'
We're the ones who've seen
the flaming arrows, as they've
crossed the darkening sky...
We're the ones, you and I.
We're the ones who choose to
ignore each and every sign.
We belong to the Earth, yet,
so pompously, we call it,
