The Backpack Story I
This is a tale of a backpack trip
It happened so long ago
We went hiking on the Appalachian Trail
Didn't know much about it though
It was a good trip for this family of four
We put lots of food in our packs
We didn't know what we were asking
But away we went and didn't look back
Our packs were far too heavy you see
We had things like pancake mix and oil
Syrup, dried beans and apples for pies
Loaded for sure we even had foil
We put on our pack and thought we'd die
Headed up the hill and got out of sight
We put those suckers down and rearranged
Headed out and prayed for the night
We ate a lot to lighten our load
Met lots of folks speeding along
Passing us by they had quite a clip
We kept right on going but not for long
It rained a lot and we got kinda wet
Spent a day trying to get dry
Cooked up a big pot of dried beans
Away we would go for another try
For twenty nine days we slept in a tent
Bathing was quite a strip
Now we were ready for a shower and bed
Time to move on and end this trip

Marvin (Cheesemaker), Devin, Alan and I
went on the Appalachian Trail for 29 days
Maybe they will write about it too!
