Negative Frame of Mind

You throw water on happy fires
Dampen the spirits of all who come near
Turning stepping stones into blockades
With pessimism so severe

The sweet aroma of a gourmet meal
Reeking as it attacks the olfactory nerve
A bountiful feast is no longer fruitful
After you are allowed to observe

What happened in your life?
How did you become so horribly bitter?
Why do you choose to see the dull
Instead of the gloss and glitter?

What event deadened your senses?
Why is it your suffering we must tolerate?
There's no need for us to endure
Your cheerless psychological state!

If there were cosmic justice
To solitary you would be confined
Unable to poison the hopes of others
With your negative frame of mind.
