Backpack Story II

One morning nothing seemed different
We got up started breakfast, so sweet
Cooked pancakes, oh what a treat
I was ready to start eating, to take a seat

All of a sudden we had a surprise
Into our camp a hiker did stride
He had walked eight miles
Out of grub, hungry, he had no pride

We fed him pancakes to his hearts content
He was bottomless I was afraid he'd be ill
I didn't know when he would get full
I didn't know the thrill or the drill

He was trying to make it to a place
To leave the trail to get some food
Another eight miles he had to go
Pancakes kept him together, oh what a dude

After he left I was ready to eat
I was so hungry but do not misread
I was thankful to help my brother along
We fed the hungry and boy did he feed

It doesn't matter where you are
If you let Him God will do His part
Appalachian Trail in the heat of summer
Wherever you are just do your part
