i am not there... (repost)

i am not there...

when you awaken
in the early cockcrow's call
feel me for i am the wind
so swift and uplifting rush
of the quiet birds
in circled flight

when day drifted
to the bosom of the night
do not stand
against the wind
and be sad and weep

i am the floating breeze
that softly blows
and whispering soft words
on your ears

i am like the diamond's glint
on the pure virgin snow

i am the ray of early dawn
cresting of the ripening wheat

i am the gentle morning mist
kissing the leafy blades
of precious, delicate life

i am not there
when the sun fades
to the crimson sunset
don't look for me
for i drifted away

i am the hazy vision
that waxes and wanes the moon
a soft brittle star
that shines on a naked night
be calm and be still
do not stand
against the wind
and be sad and lament

i am not there
i did not leave you
i just drifted away...

aloha o'e!
