Poetry Lives On

Poetry is not a thought,
Not a whim someone has brought
Just for pride or self inflation
To expect a loud ovation
Nor should be used just to obtain
Large amounts of financial gain.

Poetry is not precision
Wasting time on a decision:
'Should I use ab-ab,
Or use the common aa-bb?
Should I focus more on grammar,
Or emphasise my artful glamour?'

Poetry is one with beauty,
Love and friendship, faith and duty.
Poetry is all around
In the air and on the ground.
And though it may look too far gone,
Poetry lives forever on.
