Silence

The silence of that empty room
will linger in my heart awhile
the windows shut – the world cut off
I close the door with a sad smile

Here once her sage advice was heard
the silence of that empty room -
now barely a month has gone past
leaving me with a touch of gloom

Her things are gone, there’s nothing left
to show that she was ever here
the silence of that empty room
is brimming my tired eyes with tears

Yes, Mom is gone, she won’t be back
she’s flown Heav’nward from the tomb
and so I close the door upon
the silence of that empty room

In memory of my Mom
