If The Angels Come
What will I do if the angels come and lay down by your side?
I pray they come to lay their hands and not take you in their arms
My heart shatters to think of a day, when your voice is no longer heard.
What will I do if the angels come when I'm not there to know?
I would trade my place with you should they choose to take you home.
My tears burn, unshed, behind my eyes, not wishing you to see my fear.
What will I do if the angels come and I've not said good-bye.
Would you know what was in my heart if they come to walk with you?
My arms tremble as they hold you, keeping you close, not wanting to let go.
What will I do if the angels come and they say its not yet time?
I would fall to my knees, my prayers been heard, and the answer was not no.
My tears would fall like rain, and you will know, what my heart has not yet said.
