Eyes of an Angel

From the darkness I did gaze
Awaiting the cool respite of dawn
No deeper could my soul be drawn
Hard hurt shrouded in smoky haze
A well known path traveled hard
Questions without answers found
Suffering deeply without a sound
Hiding a selfless soul deeply scarred
Easy the deceptions were played
That time spent in a fantasy lost
Disappointment my final cost
Time's passing subtely stayed
Pulled deeper into a memory passed
Regrets hidden 'neath flickering light
In the corner, darkness clouding sight
These times destined not to last

From the darkness I do gaze
Desperately, the moment, I seek to find
Pain's end, hurt's mend, peace of mind
Searching hard that dim smoky haze
Moment not to be spent in haste
Tired of this loneliness and pain
Thoughts so like a runaway train
Time stilled so very easy to waste
Drawn away from that dark lane
Darkness' tendrils slowly unwound
A familiar lighted path is found
Left behind, heartache, hurt and pain
Quickly the darkness is lifted
Such a sweet unexpected surprise
To once again see the flashing eyes
Of the only one specially gifted
