Now and Then

You've heard the phrase 'This too shall pass.'
Life can be likened to the grass
that falls asleep from winter's breath.
A sleep so deep it looks like death.
Comes sweet spring's warmth and gentle rain;
the grass all comes alive again.

I don't know why these tears I cry
water the grass of days gone by.
But that was then and this is now
and now it matters less somehow.
Everything is fresh and new.
Every day there's more to do.

Now ev'rything feels fresh and new.
Sometimes there's just too much to do.
It's this I celebrate in verse,
there's magic in our universe.
Chasing the day from start to end
is now such fun, for you're my friend.
