~ Handprints On The Walls ~

Just how many hand-prints...
have you washed off all these walls...
Up and down the staircase...
and on each and every hall!

They were made with peanut butter...
Some jam and jelly too...
We made them with our sticky hands...
But it never bothered you!

You never seemed to worry...
You never made a fuss...
You even seemed quite saddened...
to remove prints made by us!

I remember I heard you saying...
that the time would too soon pass...
When all your little babies...
Would walk through the hour glass!

I asked you what you meant by that...
and with a smile to hide the tears...
You said 'Because you'll soon be grown'
'These are my happy years!'
