Goals for Growing Older
May more smile lines than frown creases adorn my face;
May I walk softly here, with acceptance and grace.
May I honour my place in the circle of things;
May I help the young women grow into their wings.
May I always deal calmly with problems and pain;
When the sky lets go with a cold, lonesome rain.
May I always recall and hold tight in my thoughts,
The rain waters the flowers in their garden plots.
May I learn to accept my own limitations;
May I know reality from imitations.
When I look at others, may I see them as whole --
Realize our connection, deep down, soul-to-soul.
May I listen to reason though driven by art.
May I ever be mindful of love in my heart.
May I always love deeply though sometimes it hurts.
May I always feel part of this great Universe.
May I keep my mind open, yet stand in my truth;
May I show my respect for our elders and youth.
May I share with others the gifts I've been given;
May my life's force, always, by passion be driven.
May there always be music and always be dance;
May I seize every moment and not waste a chance.
May I give a smile where there just isn't any,
For joy passes on from the one to the many.
May I feel all the wonder; may I always try
To feel magic in life, though I can't explain why.
May I love my body as it softens and rounds;
May I drink in, deeply, all the joy that abounds.
May I reach ev'ry goal as I'm growing older;
May I still feel warmth as the days grow much colder.
May my eyes reflect, gladly, the living I've done;
And 'til my last moment, may I keep having fun!
