Tonight's Prayer

Tonight is a night I pray,
For the whole world but me,
I write down all I say,
For all of the world to see.

I pray for the hungry children,
I pray for the mentally infirmed,
I pray for the unforgiven,
Who have in this life squirmed.

I pray for the world leaders,
May they all become finally wise?
I pray for the welfare cheaters,
May the finally open their eyes.

I pray for the wounded and weak,
The ones that haven’t a clue.
Who haven’t see the words you speak,
And come to know that they are true.

I pray for the people that are poor,
Who fight to make it day to day.
I pray for the poets of this world,
That have not a word to say.

I pray for the police and fire,
Doing their job tonight.
I pray with a burning desire,
To only do what is right.

I pray for the ones in drought,
The ones in flooding as well.
I pray for the ones in doubt,
That the may gain something to tell,

I pray for lost souls gone astray,
May they be brought back unto your fold,
I pray for the people have gone away,
Walking your streets of gold.

Heavenly father I pray all of this,
So that someday you will see,
That something in my life is amiss,
And yes this does pertain to me.

So as I lay my head down to sleep,
I pray this with all of my heart.
Then nodding off I gently weep.
For the blessings that you do impart.

Thank you lord for all these gifts,
You have given unto a dark one like me,
Help me mend all of my rifts,
And set all my anguish to be free.
