Echoes

I thought to build a family
one to love and meant just for me.
Yet, even though my life was filled
with all the challenges to build
a happy, healthy family,
the time now seems a blank to me.
Wherever did all that time go?
In but a blink I watched them grow
out of childhood and suddenly
they all have grown a family.

Within the spaces of my mind
some of these memories I find
are edited for it appears
that I've forgot the pain and tears.
I've edited my memories
so totally unconsciously.

Yet whispers from the breath of time
softly echo throughout my mind
and in the strangest, vaguest ways
I still remember other days
as if through someone else's eyes.
some other's thoughts, some other's lives.
Some other place, some other when,
but would I live my life again?
I do not know, for memory
makes my life seem a fantasy.
