A Trio of Maidens

I once had a princess
And now I have three
A trio of maidens
To dance with me

One's hair is so long
So flowing and fair
The second's pure gold
As the warm summer air

The third is just blooming
Soft bud of a flower
But soon will be dancing
For many long hours

I hold no position
I'm no stately king
A lowly old peasant
And yet, hear me sing!

For somehow or other
When man becomes father
He'll dance with a princess
His beautiful daughter

But when there are three
He'll triple his pride
And dance through his days
Just matching their stride
