The Crystal Mage

The Crystal Mage of Stil-de-Grain
was not quite what he seemed
But as it fell on him to reign
‘twas much more than he dreamed

At down-light all the magic failed
and evil monsters lurked
Even the crystal’s power paled
in dark it never worked

With golden lad and silent girl
the Mage set out to find
strange secrets in this dif’rent world
odd wonders filled his mind

He traveled ‘tween this world and theirs
a world made up of bands
A small cramped space beneath his stairs
his passage to their lands

While there he wanted to be home
at home he thought of them
And so to Stil-de-Grain he’d roam
where most folks welcomed him

The friends he made all watched his back
though they were puzzled too
about the magic that he lacked
but somehow he made do

The magic filled his mind with rage
which he wielded with ease
And so in Stil-de-Grain the Mage
stopped wars and helped make peace
