If just for a Moment
If just for a moment I could meet her again
It would take away all my heartbreak and pain
In our ethereal place where her sweet voice sighed
and my soul beguiled by the look in those eyes.
I wish that her spirit would steal from the air
and surround me with love as she came to me there.
Once again she might whisper, so soft in my ear
the words that were always a pleasure to hear.
But fate plays with all of us, just like a toy
and sometimes brings sorrow, the half sister of joy.
Now here lies my path, which alone without love
I must tread while she sleeps in Heaven above.
Some years I know, have really been wasted
and looking back now, I perhaps should have tasted
from the stream that runs by Wisdom’s shrine
To fulfill the dream, both hers and mine.
Now I yearn for a grave where the sunlight rests
Then slowly will fade, to sink in the west.
But when it returns with a glorious tomorrow
My soul would be free and devoid of all sorrow.
I hope that my angel can then hold me tight
Whilst eternity banishes death from our sight.
My thoughts are quite simple, it’s like this you see
Just to meet her once more is sufficient for me.
