Beautiful

Once she was beautiful
With emerald eyes disguised as the sea
And a youthful heart spilling secret dreams
Onto magical shores

Once she was majestic
A tried beauty, beckoning exploration
Calling brave souls and thrill seekers
Into imagination

Once she was courageous
The captain of her own destiny
Dancing o'er the ocean gale
Clothed in pure white linen sails

Yes, once she was beautiful
With emerald eyes disguised as the sea
And a youthful heart spilling secret dreams

Now, weathered by the sun of a thousand waves
In times kiln, brittle and baked
The dreams have charted another course
And the emerald eyes faded away with shores
Now she is broken, alone with her sails torn

But…

Once she was beautiful
