Fear Not the Night

Fear not the night though dark it be,
When the light of day you cannot see;
When words of courage seem all but gone,
And you long to hear an encouraging song.

Fear not the loneliness that comes with pain,
When weakness robs of each small gain;
And hope flickers like the fickle wind,
And you wonder, 'is this the end?'

Fear not the past that clings so tight,
Marking each failure as a vengeful blight;
Stirring old wounds to cry once more,
When the dreaded judgment looms before.

For every night a new day dawns,
And out of pain come joy and song;
God helps the feeble, strengthens the weak,
His grace is free to all who seek.

Fear not, dear child, His love is near,
He paid it all, no need to fear;
Live each day with love and faith,
Always trust His wonderful grace.
