Comic Books

All those comics I read
when but a child...
the fantasies just grew,
ran wild.
I saw myself as Diana Palmer
and would bat my baby blues
to charm my gorgeous Phantom,
with joy did I enthuse.

From croc infested waters
he would liberate this chick.
I was threatened by piranhas
so he had to do it quick.
He would risk his life and limb
to separate me from a snake
and save me from the dreaded
pygmy people across the lake.

He would quench a forest fire
and save the human race,
with me the lucky someone
to share his intimate embrace.
Is it just imagination?
Can it be the real thing?
Just in case, I still am wearing
that good old Phantom ring.
