STRONG AND INDEPENDENT

When I was young I carried strong love and hate,
My passions, audacious and impetuous ran extreme.
Like hot and cold water all at the same time.
I was strong and sensitive, never showed fear.

Fast as I could care so deeply, I could walk away.
I was a jumble of high strung emotions, no control.
Was as gentle as a kitten and mean as lioness.
Shy and inverted one day, bold and reckless the next.

Inside I was just a confused child, very afraid.
I trembled with fear of loss, so always left.
I was angry at myself for being such a coward.
Yet always knew I was strong and independent.
