My First Camping Trip

Not long after we were married
He wanted to camp out by a stream
I'd never been on one before
I thought it would be supreme

He took a big ugly carpet
Hung it over the racks of the truck
It looked worse than the hillbillys
Heading out to test their luck

We packed into the pick up
All the needed camping gear
We headed out on the journey
The destination was getting near

We went to a quite lonely spot
Away from all civilization
Wasn't exactly my idea
Of a wonderful vacation

We took out all the needed items
Should have a place to sleep he said
He took a bunch of old straw
Placed in back of truck for a bed

We went to the creek to fish awhile
Soon he ran back to get his gun
There lay a big rattle snake
Tell me when we start having fun

The fish he caught measured two inches
It kept us from being hungry I guess
He grilled it on a fire, opened a can of beans
It all tasted good more or less

The bed was the most uncomfortable
I have ever had a chance to try
We didn't go camping this way again
I guess you can see the reason why.
