A Friend

There have been times in our lives
When words alone were not enough
Someone needed to give us a hand
A warm body to show us some stuff

Someone to show us we are loved
To help us play in the sand
See the bright wonderful things
A friend to hold our hand

During times of disappointment
Someone to stand and not budge
Not just talk about it
To give us a hug and not judge

When words alone are not enough
Or the words just don't ring true
A friend just to be there
That helps us not to be blue
