~ The Passions Of The Sea ~

As the morning wakes with mist rising from the earth
Gently sliding across the waters
The sun is sweetly kissing the day with its light
Winds brush against my skin
As if to say 'It's time'

Looking at the sailing vessel
Waiting for its reawakening
Coming to life
Only when it may run free!

A friend!
A companion!
A lover!

I feel her beckoning me, with anxious arms

'Come free me!
'Set me loose upon the waters'
' Let me breathe again
As I fill my sails with my life's blood'

Eagerly I make ready my friend
Taking care to bridle her
With love in my hands
I prepare her

The time has come
Gently
I release her restraints
I lead her with care as she slips easily out into the waters
I give her her head and set her free

She fills her sails with her breath
Holding it in as she feels her strength again

Like a stallion running across the open range
She is in her world
She knows I'm with her
She shares her freedom with me

We are one
Experiencing the rawness and the power of the sea
My life is in her hands as hers is in mine

Time now
To return to the place that we both must exist
But truly do not live
I put her to bed safely
To sleep until we meet again

'Soon' I tell her
'Soon'
Someday we will run away together

I dream of her and the sea
My heart belongs to her
Soon we will never be apart

Freely we will sail the waters of our fantasies
No restraints...
No commitments other than to our passion

The wind...
The sun ...
And the Sea!

!!!

A friend of mine took me out on his sailboat for my very first time
It was my 55th birthday and he thought it would make it memorable...

Did I say 'boat...
Forgive me!...This is his 'Lady'

We weren't far when he decided to teach me to sail
I sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge! All by myself!

What a birthday that was!
What I soon learned was the respect this gentleman had for the sea and the passion and love he had for his 'Lady'
THE PASSIONS OF THE SEA!

!

I dedicate this to Darrell and his passion 'Indulgence'
Thank you both for allowing me to sail her and feel the 'Wind beneath your wings'
