The words never spoken
keep echoing within my head
'I love you' words I wanted to hear
were the words never said.
Many years you were my dream
the one I waited patiently for
you were always within my heart
the one I would always adore.
When you went so far away
I hungered for your tender touch
I looked at your picture on the shelf
and I missed you so very much.
The day you returned was filled
with mixed emotions running deep
I knew I still loved you heart and soul
the words never spoken made me weep.
The words never spoken were
now flowing boldly from your lips
'I love you too,' words I could not speak
we must forever be just passing ships.
I am sorry I could not accept your love
for us to be together was not our fate
I was then married to someone else
for us it was much to late.
Many years later I still think
about the words never spoken
I long to tell you I loved you
I am sorry hearts were broken.
