Unforgetable Eyes

looking into your eyes
on that hot July evening
neither of us able to speak
yet hearing love in the silence
under the magic of the moon
you touched my heart

the misty moonlit night
distorted everything in sight
except your eyes
dark as charcoal
smoldering with the heat of desire

I wanted you that night
like I’d never wanted anything before
but for one fleeting moment
fear griped my heart
and I turned to go
but you reach out

your touch seemed to singe my skin
the wind picked up and cooled
the air outside
but did nothing to cool
the passion that grew inside us

memories linger on
even now, when the wind blows
on a summer evening
I am transported back in time
to face those smoldering eyes
