The Garden of Earthy Delights

Okay, from the top
our new green shed
And a compost bin
constantly fed

Next up a crimson azalea
by our fuscia tree
A bird house
and herb garden - take... for free!

Next our rock garden wild
with ferns intermixed,
poppies, bleeding hearts
and roses betwixt

Following on are the foxgloves
with pansies below
Then come the lilies
with faces aglow

Clematis, aquilegia (Granny's bonnets)
and roses make up the display
And slap bang in the middle
our lawn for a sun-soaked day

I truly love my garden,
I nurture it with joy
It's worth all that weeding
and elbow-grease we employ

It's the simple alchemy of life,
of growth and protecting the weak
As we build a tiny piece of heaven
For J, I, Chester and Squeak
