MY NEIGHBOR'S CHILD
When I was twelve years old
A lady lived across the street from me
She had a little boy named Mark
He was the sweetest boy
He was just a baby, maybe eighteen months old
I walked passed his mother and him.. He smiled so big
I felt the need to hold him
He was sure adorable..
Well as time went on
I asked the mother if I could take him
for a walk to the corner and back..
She allowed me to do this..
I would walk Mark, back and forth
and he would lay in his buggy
and smile and stare. I fell in love
with that little boy he was so sweet
I couldn't wait to get home from school
so I could take Mark, out for a walk.
His Mom, would say he is in his crib
I would rush back to his room and find Mark, smiling
so big..He was moving his head back, and forth
smiling so sweet.
I pick him up and put him in his buggy
Then we go walking..He stare and smile
and move his head back in forth
I thought he was just so adorable
and funny how he kept moving his head and smiling
so happy..
Well we took our walk for months like that
After school I would go to his house and
off we go, for our walk.. Well, needless to
say I really loved that little guy.
Well, I came home from school one
day..I ran across the street after I finished my
homework,,I wanted to take Mark, for his walk..
I knocked on the door, and asked for Mark,
His Mom, said Mark went to live where
they could help him..He went to a hospital
where they could give him the care he needed
he would stay there to live.
I ran home crying and my Mom took me in her arms
and held me..You see Mark, was retarded and his
brain didn't function right. But to me Mark, was as normal
as any child I've ever seen.
My eyes never seen a difference in Mark.
They told his parents he would only get worse in their care..
So they decided to bring Mark, to the hospital to give him
all the help they could..
Mark, never came back . His parents
moved away also..I remember crying for days..
I was only twelve I felt my first heartache
I hope wherever Mark, is today..Something inside him
by a miracle may remember a young girl that
really truly, loved him. I pray that God, is watching over him.
