COUNTRY BOY

When I was a boy, Christmas was the best time.
I liked to hear those church bells chime.
Momma taught us Christmas is Jesus Birthday.
We didn`t have much but bills to pay.

We was lucky to get one present each;
An apple, some nuts and a peach.
One Christmas a neighbor brought lots of toys.
I got a little red wagon, I was a happy boy.

But the best present I ever had was a bicycle.
A neighbor gave it to dad to fix for me.
Dad put two new wheels, tire and tube on it.
It took only a few moments to learn to ride.

I rode that bicycle everywhere besides school.
Summer were the best in my growing up years.
