With much contemplation
I realized this much
There isn't just one person
Who's inspired me by their touch
Instead it has been many
Too many here to name
Be assured they've touched me
And inspired just the same
Every person that I chance to meet
For a moment or a season
I've learned something from them
By friendship or their treason
Some have talents I admire
Some their character
Some shined light upon my soul
Left me better after
I tend to be a voyeur
Walking down life's path
I watch as well as listen
What makes some sad or laugh
What really gets my attention
Is how people handle stress
Do they strike back in anger
When they face duress
Do they refrain from anger
Turning their other cheek
Looking first for reasoning
And think before they speak
Thoughtfulness and kindness
An understanding heart
Selflessness and caring
These traits set them apart
Diligence and forthcoming
You can take them at their word
Just some ways I am inspired
By what I've seen and heard
I'm inspired too by nature
By grace and by God's love
So you see there's not one person
Rather all of the above
!
A wise woman once said:
' Walk slowly...Listen carefully
You'll see more and go farther'
