Free To Just Be
Jumbled words and scattered thoughts
lay tucked away inside my heart
afraid to loosen, let self go
walked around on tippy-toes
then came a man with poets dream
welcomed all or so it seemed
coffee brewing, porch light on
doors open wide, dusk 'til dawn
tears and laughter filled the halls
scribbled words on slated walls
extended hands from sea to sea
poems 'n prose, word imagery
Prayers, concern for those in need
healing balm for souls that bleed
hearts reaching out with love, respect
non-judgemental, to trust, accept
no more masks, all set aside
revealing selves, no need to hide
heartsongs drip off poets pen
unleashed at last from minds den
dark and light come out to play
behind the doors of his cafe
jumbled thoughts and scrambled words
find escape in written verse
tears of sadness, love deployed
celebrations of pure joy
family ties made whole, complete
building bonds...some bittersweet
enabled to be just who we are
folks world over travel far
to sit and chat, share favorite rhymes
visit friends, spend quiet time
a special room to pen our prose
this meeting place we call home
hearts exposed on ev'ry page
blended words 'pon Albert's stage
with voices heard in whispered sigh
his golden wings, taught us to fly
so here we gather, free to be
flower blossoms in field of dreams
