Rose colored glasses
Those rose colored glasses
You’re always looking through
Show you only the beauty
They hide the ugly side of life
From you
It’s time to remove the glasses
Open your eyes and see
The ugly side of life
That can affect and happen
To you and to me
Anyone of us
Can lose our house
The place we call home
Get tossed out on the streets
Then the cold lonely streets
Become our home
Any of us can be
A victim of a crime
The world has turned ugly
Were not safe
Outside
We lock our doors and windows
Make a prison
Of our homes
Were not safe on the streets
Too much crime is going on
We could be that person
Going through the trash
Looking for a bite to eat
And a cardboard box
As a place to sleep
We could be that person
The one we all ignore
The one we see on our streets
Right outside
Our doors
The one we turn our nose up at
The homeless people
That we see
Yes it could happen
To us
That could end up being
You or me
Most of us
Live paycheck to paycheck
We Rob Peter to pay Paul
And after and if the bills are paid
The money is all
Gone
We could be so hungry
That we might find
Ourselves standing in
The nearest soup line
We could lose
It all
Everything we own
If tragedy should strike
Our family and our home
No one chooses to be homeless
No one dreams of living
A life such as that
Things just happen to some folks
That’s how they end up
Like that
We all know the saying
And we should keep it in mind
There but for the grace of god
Go I
Anything goes challenge
