As She Sees It Now

As She Sees It Now

She remembers the cold, the numbing chill...
Undeniable truth stealing the breath
Of sorrow's scream into sudden silence.
Quiet whispers mocked grief, insulted pain.
Her future gone, scattered amid despair's dust,
The past offering uneasy comfort
From the present, impossible to bear.
She wondered if ever she would breathe again...

But time in its constant faith and wisdom
Did as promised, softening the edge of grief
And smoothing the shards piercing a wounded soul.
Oh, though she longs for what had been, with each
New step not a day goes by that she does not
Reach for tomorrow... as she sees it now.
