Self View

Over and over again the thoughts come to linger
Creeping in without warning leaving me confused
Because I know in my heart the actual reasons why
Yet my mind chooses to wander in unchartered territory

Questions and doubts fill all the thoughts meant to reason
Until nonsense invades everything that ever made sense
In a topsy turvy mess I am spinning right out of control
Without a plausible explanation for unrealistic anxiety

If just for a moment I could see myself the way you do
Through the mirror of love that shines in your blue eyes
Then I could gain enough strength within my own self
To banish the doubts that rise when self confidence falls

I can hear your encouraging words echo all around me
Since you came into my life I have grown in many ways
You taught me to overcome fear, to believe in myself
By breathing the exotic spice of possibilities life offers

Now when the negativity seeps into positive surroundings
I am better equipped to deal with the lurking anguish within
Seeing strength and beauty triumph in every contest of wills
Since I too have learned to view myself with love and acceptance
