Dancing On The Dark Side
So he pulls on the strings
and I dance again
as he plays his song
of desperation
and I even say yes
when my heart says no
(but I never listen to my heart anyways, do I?)
and now I’m trapped
in this huge machine
with the big iron claw
that takes the money
but
keeps the toy
and my transmission
needs fixing
because my gear
keeps on slipping
and I keep on
traversing
back into yesterday
where these strings
he keeps pulling
anyways
and here am I,
still dancing
even though
my heart
keeps screaming
NO
I asked him
if he hadn’t noticed
how hasty reactions
alters perceptions
but he said he hadn’t noticed anything
and he keeps right on pulling
and I keep right on
dancing
anyways
And it kind of makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
