Heartbreak Serenade

SultryRose's Signatures

The pathway to forever
where hopes and dreams
were born
holding close your memory
our once upon a time

Promises sealed with kisses
warm love quilts lining soul
clinging tight each fiber
more precious now than gold

A ballet
through lost yesteryears
each footstep takes me back
to summer skies...
your hazel eyes...
when love was strong
intact...

Silhouettes and roses
soft music, candles low
bodies melded closely
to bask in afterglow

Thoughts stagger into hallways
'n corners of my mind
remind once more of seasons
how they fade in time

Old man in moon is frowning
'n stars have lost their shine
salty tears still trickle
with taste of bitter wine

I walk familiar pathway
where footprints once had been
longing for more moments
to stroll with you again

Remember whispered nothings
awaking us each morn?
like softened rays of sunshine
hearts welcomed in new dawn

Although our words have silenced
'n hopes and dreams have died
I'm not sorry
having loved you
or lonely tears I cry

The scent of musk still lingers
embraces, hugs my mind
lost in thought,
remembering...
another place and time

I think of you each summer
as rainbows paint the sky
in Autumn dreams we're dancing
to natures lullabye

When moonlight
casts its shadows
I miss you even more
within each breeze
soft echoes...
embed themselves in core

If only things were different
harsh words were left unsaid
we'd still be here together
without these deep regrets

For all sad words
of tongue and pen,
the saddest are these
it might have been
a fairytale romance
of forever 'n one day
yet,
like warm glow of August
it faded, slipped away
