No Options

Mile Marker MCCCXLIII

Free Verse

Fire changes personal reward,
precious treasures of greying ash
find wings with the wind,
never to know love had a name.
Shadows grow approaching night,
blinded eyes reviewing heaven,
trapped in hell.
I would die for the many
stars to wish upon,
countless possibilities to explore.
Sudden bright light destroys hope
as reality throws naked truth
on the stage to dance.
Trust was never convicted while
nothing was done to
temptation's dangerous dream
that still survives.
Fate patiently awakes the
addictions that hide when
peace happens beyond need
and surrender leaves no options.
