Its been the emotional abuse
Being put down for years
I always doubted myself
While the smiles hid the tears
Always lacking in confidence
Being made to feel less
What became important
Was finding a need to express
My need to build self -esteem
It was part of the plan
Having to believe in me
I would be doing the best I can
Having to believe I was worthy
I look upon with insight
Learning to love myself
Had given me reasons to write
