Lost treasures

The house was sold
The new owners moved in
They searched through the attic
And found some boxes
That was
Left behind
Little did they know?
What a treasure
They would find

Hidden in a trunk
Near the bottom you see
Was a book of poems
Written long ago

The family sat down
And had a look
At the treasure they had found
And the words they read
Touched their heart and soul
Seems this poet
Knew how to let their words
Flow

Each poem told a story
Of this person life
They felt they knew her
And all about her life

She had penned,
Her thoughts on paper
Throughout the years
And the paper had a few stains
Maybe, left
By tears

They neared the end of the book
And the poems just stopped
One was half written
Yet to be complete
They wondered what happened
Why the poem had no end

Drops of forgotten ink
Maybe her pen had gone dry
Maybe she had started this poem
Right before
She died

They would never know the reason
Why the poem had no end
But this they knew for sure
And they all agreed
They had found a treasure
A true treasure
Indeed
