The Penny

I went for a walk and while looking around
I saw it lying on the ground
It seemed so lifeless, it felt so cold
I knew in a moment, it had to be old.
The people went passing and nobody cared
they kicked it aside as it layed there and stared
I tried to walk pass it, but it seemed all alone
so I picked it up and I took it home
Two days have now passed and those days were well spent
but now it is gone, it helped pay my rent.
