To Grandma's House We Go

It was a magical Christmas Eve.
We were on our way to grandma's place.
Our small children, in the back seat
Had anticipation written all over their faces.

They giggled and asked lots of questions
'Daddy will Santa Claus stop by'?
Their daddy said 'We'll just have to wait and see'.
Then winked at me with that knowing gleam in his eye.

The snow sparkled like a trunk full of diamonds
And looked magical as far as the eye could see.
The valley's and hills, like a white ermine blanket,
And the children sang and chattered with glee.

I was deep in thought painting a mental picture
And exclaimed aloud 'Just look at that terrain'!
All of the children shouted in unison.
Mama, where's the train, where's the train?
