The Coming Of September
I've walked with you in autumn's past.
In this most lovely time of year.
This year the coming of September
Will find me wishing you were here,
And Dear, as in all the autumn's past
When We danced among the falling leaves
And savored the gold and crimson corridors
I will sit beneath our special tree.
I'll run my fingers over the heart and initials.
We carved them there so long ago.
I can't make any promises to you my Dear.
That these lonely tears of mine won't flow.
So my Dear, share this autumn with me in spirit.
It's the time of year I will always remember,
We looked forward to those lovely autumn walks
With the coming of September.
