Friendship's Prayer

I'm always here to lend an ear,
Or just a friendly shoulder;
For friend I know that life can grow
So tough as we get older.

A burden held inside can swell
And often break our spirit;
A burden shared with one who cares
Can help us to endure it.

You've got a friend you can depend
On anytime you need to;
Pick up the phone, I'm always home,
And I'll never mislead you.

I'll calm your fears, I'll dry your tears,
Then quietly I'll listen;
I'll let you share the things you dare
And ask not what is missing.

I'll let you know I love you so,
Then gently I will hold you;
I'll let you rest upon my breast
While loving arms enfold you.

And do not fear, for I'll hold dear
These burdens you've confided;
They're safe with me for don't you see
That you were to me guided.

I'm always here to lend an ear
Or just a friendly shoulder;
And ev'ry day to God I pray
Our friendship will grow older.
