Shattered Tomorrows

Could I but just borrow
one last sweet embrace
to fill this heart so hollow,
this lonely, cold dark space?

I'm afraid of all my tomorrows,
ghosts I'll always see of your face.
Buried, sunken, bleak sorrow,
my dreams now shattered like a broken crystal vase.

For all the days I live, memories of us will follow;
my naive love for you, eternally glued in place.
These feelings deep down inside need to become shallow.
So take this love I gave, seemingly easy for you to erase;

But, please....

Before you go, before you turn and walk away,
could I but just borrow
one last precious kiss,
one last 'I love you', from your lying lips?
