Jammin Mama At The Starlite Cafe

Open mike night at the cafe, and I'm gonna play 'til the
break of day, so I be grabbing on my 'geeter 'cause I'm gonna
swing it just a bit sweeter and I flubbed an F chord with
fumbled fingers, so I'll linger on a neat note jest a little
discreeter, 'cause I'm a big dong dinger, an aging left winger,
and a real folk singer, and I'll fling you a blue note on the
E minor, little darlin',
even though
I don't knows
how to sing your blues.

Them folks in the back booth, they will be flailing and
a’wailing, hoppin’ and a’boppin’ and their feets be clip
cloppin’, and there ain’t gonna be any stoppin’, ‘cause
little darlin’,
this ditty will be poppin’,
jest fer you.

Open mike night at the café, and they say my turn to play will
be comin, any day, or leastways, thats what they say, and
everything’s gonna be alright jest as soon as they dims all
them lights and everyone jest goes away, so then I can play,
little darlin’, and I’ll be harmonizing this one, just for you.
Jest as soon, as I learns,
how to sing them blues.

Dedicated to Bubby
And all the folks in the back booth
