A Long Farewell

Quite an adventure awaits willing minds
penning the thoughts that an active muse finds.
Poetry speaks giving words special vibes;
others may write but a poet ascribes.
Useless alone, simple lines join in force
forming alliances all in due course.
Seeking coherence, a metaphor plays
changing the setting while clearing life's haze.
Flowing with meter's distinguishing grace,
line after line still affirms form's in place.
Beings, we're born; but as poets we die
leaving our verses for upcoming eyes.
If we achieve what we set out to do,
poems shall serve as our final adieu.
